I found this recipe for play dough that's easy to make, non toxic and will keep your little ones busy especially on a rainy or snowy day.

Play Dough
1 cup flour  coloring                      2 tsp.vegetables food
1/4 cup salt                                     1 Tbs. cooking oil
2Tbs. cream of tartar                    1 cup water

In a medium pot combine flour, salt and cream of tartar.  In a separate bowl, combine water, food coloring and oil.  Stir into the flour mixture.

Cook over medium heat and stir, about 3-5 minutes.  It will look like a globby mess and you'll be sure it's not turning out-but it will.  When the mixture forms a ball in the center of the pot, turn it out and knead on a lightly floured surface.
Stays good and pliable for a couple of months if kept in an airtight container.  When doing your play dough creations, don't forget those necessary accessories: cookie cutters, rolling pins, plastic knives and extra flour.  For stamping out unusual shapes you can use bottle caps, pieces of uncooked pasta, walnut half shells.  Use your imagination.

Have fun with it and send us some pictures and we'll post them for you.
